Mesut Ozil Reveals His Euro 2020 Fantasy Football Team And There’s Only One England Player

Mesut Ozil has revealed his Euro 2020 fantasy team and we’re backing him to rack up the points this summer.

The 2014 World Cup winner, now at Fenerbahce after leaving Arsenal in January, took to Twitter to share his side for the showpiece.

Despite budget and country constraints, the former Real Madrid playmaker has managed to assemble a team brimming with quality.

In goal, Ozil has opted for his former Arsenal teammate Wojciech Szczęsny. The Juventus shot-stopper is Poland’s number one for the Euros, where they’ve been paid in a group with Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.

He’s got an interesting back three of Portugal veteran Pepe, fellow German Antonio Rudiger and Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Although he plays left-back for his club, the 24-year-old operates as a midfielder for Ukraine and his inclusion here is a bit of a hack.

The exciting Phil Foden is his only selection from England, while he’s also picked compatriot Leroy Sane and West Ham’s aerial nuisance Tomas Soucek, who plays internationally for Czech Republic.

He’s shown allegiance to his Turkish roots by drafting in 21-year-old Halil Dervisoglu, who spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Galatasaray from Brentford.

Another two Turkish players are on his subs bench in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and midfielder İrfan Kahveci, while City forward Ferran Torres always seems to score for Spain.

Hungary’s Adam Adam Szalai is his final choice.

‘Ozil posted his team on social media, with the caption: My fantasy football team for UEFA @EURO2020. What do you all think? Who’s beating me?”
